Job Title: Teaching Assistant – Year 3 SEND Support (Part-Time)
Location: Totterdown, Bristol (BS4) Days: Monday – Thursday Start Date: ASAP (trial day available) Setting: Primary School Axcis Education are recruiting on behalf of a primary school in the Totterdown area of Bristol for a Teaching Assistant to support two Year 3 pupils with additional needs. This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who is energetic, patient, and passionate about supporting children with SEND in a nurturing primary school environment. About the Role: You will be supporting two pupils in Year 3, each with different needs: Pupil 1: • A bright, engaging child with suspected ADHD/ASC (currently undiagnosed) • Has experienced periods of dysregulation and disengagement, including previous exclusions • Currently on a part-time timetable (mornings only), with the aim of returning to full-time as soon as possible • Requires: o Clear boundaries and consistent support o Daily 1:1 reading and phonics catch-up sessions o Regular sensory breaks throughout the day • Parents are highly supportive, and the school is in the process of submitting an ENC needs assessment Pupil 2: • Has an EHCP • No behavioural concerns • Requires: o Regular check-ins throughout the day o Support with transitions o Reminders to attend to personal care (toileting) o Help staying on task during lessons o Use of visual timetables o 1:1 handwriting and reading sessions The Ideal Candidate: • Has experience supporting children with SEND, particularly ADHD, ASC, or learning needs • Is calm, consistent, and energetic • Confident delivering 1:1 interventions • Able to build positive relationships while maintaining clear boundaries • Comfortable working closely with class teachers and SEN staff Why Apply? • Supportive school with engaged parents and clear strategies in place • Opportunity to make a real impact on pupils who need stability and encouragement • Trial day available, with potential for ongoing work If you are interested in this opportunity and available Monday to Thursday, we would love to hear from you.
