Job Description: Teaching Assistant with Experience in Phonics Position: Teaching Assistant Location: Croydon Hours: Full-Time Job Purpose: Here at Axcis, we are looking for a teaching assistant with a strong background in phonics to join a secondary school in Croydon. The successful candidate will support students in their learning, focusing on the development of their phonics skills and literacy. As a key member of the teaching team, the Teaching Assistant will work closely with the class teacher to deliver tailored support, ensuring that all students achieve their full potential. Key Responsibilities: • Support the delivery of phonics lessons to individuals or small groups. • Work closely with the class teacher to implement the phonics programme • Assist students in developing their reading, writing, and spelling skills through phonics-based strategies. • Provide additional support for students who are struggling with phonics, including one-on-one or small group interventions. • Monitor and track individual student progress, identifying areas where further support is needed. • Help create and maintain a positive, engaging, and safe learning environment. • Assist with classroom activities, ensuring that all students have the appropriate resources and support. • Assist with the preparation of teaching materials and resources to support lessons. • Liaise with the class teacher and other support staff to discuss student progress and development. • Support the social and emotional development of students, promoting inclusion and positive behaviour. • Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and school events as required.
