Job Title: Teaching Assistant Location: Anywhere Salary: £90 per day Type of Position: Full-time Special Requirements: Experience with ASC (Autistic Spectrum Condition), SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs) Job Description: We are currently seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Teaching Assistant to join a SEND secondary school in Andover. The ideal candidate will provide support to students with diverse learning needs, ensuring they receive the necessary assistance to thrive in an educational setting. This role is particularly suitable for individuals who have a passion for working with children with ASC and SEMH, fulfilling both their academic and emotional needs. Responsibilities: - Deliver tailored assistance to individual students or small groups to support their learning, under the direction of the classroom teacher. - Work collaboratively with the classroom teacher to plan and implement educational activities and interventions. - Provide empathetic support to students with ASC, helping them to meaningfully engage with the curriculum. - Offer targeted assistance to students with SEMH, aiding in their emotional regulation and adaptive coping strategies. - Assist in the development of students’ social skills through structured activities and natural interactions. - Monitor and record student progress, reporting any concerns to the classroom teacher or special educational needs coordinator (SENCO). - Encourage a safe and inclusive environment that promotes positive learning experiences. - Accommodate the physical needs of students as required, which may include helping with mobility or personal care. - Transport students to and from school or educational activities if acting as a driver (valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle required). - Participate in school meetings and professional development opportunities relevant to the role. Requirements: - Previous experience working with children with ASC and/or SEMH is highly preferred. - NVQ Level 2 for Teaching Assistants or equivalent qualification is desirable. - Patience, adaptability, and a compassionate approach to addressing student needs. - Efficient communication skills, capable of collaborating with teachers, parents, and other educational professionals. - Ability to maintain professionalism and confidentiality at all times. - A positive disposition, creative mindset, and effective problem-solving skills. - Current DBS check or willingness to undergo one. - Valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle if opting to perform transportation duties.
