Job Title: Teaching Assistant Location: Salisbury, Wiltshire Type: Part Time, Supply Hours: 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM Salary: £90 per day Specialism: SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) Job Description We are currently seeking a flexible and dedicated Teaching Assistant to join our team in Salisbury, Wiltshire, on a supply basis. This part-time position offers the perfect opportunity for individuals who wish to pick their working days and contribute positively to the learning experiences of children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). ### Responsibilities - Provide tailored support to children with a range of SEND in a classroom or small group setting. - Assist the teacher in preparing materials and resources for daily activities, ensuring that they are suited to students' individual requirements. - Encourage and support pupils’ learning progress while catering to their emotional and social needs. - Facilitate inclusive education by adapting teaching methods and materials to accommodate various learning abilities. - Monitor and record students’ progress, sharing results and observations with the lead teacher and parents where necessary. - Foster a positive and safe learning environment, implementing strategies to promote effective behaviour and discipline in the classroom. - Accompany and supervise students during school activities, lunchtimes, and on-field trips as needed. - Collaborate with the teaching staff, SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator), and other professionals to implement Individual Education Plans. Requirements - Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant or relevant role, particularly in a SEND setting. - NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Support Teaching and Learning in Schools or equivalent is desirable. - Strong literacy, numeracy, and communication skills. - A passion for education and a firm commitment to improving the lives of children with special needs. - Enhanced DBS clearance (or willingness to undertake this). - Patience, creativity, and the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with the classroom teacher and wider school team. - A flexible and adaptable approach to working with children of varied abilities and needs.
