Job Title: Trainee Teaching Assistant
Thinking about a career change? Want to start working in schools but don’t have formal experience yet? This Trainee Teaching Assistant role is the perfect first step.
This is hands-on, real experience in a variety of school settings. You’ll support teachers in the classroom, work 1:1 with pupils, help small groups, encourage learning and confidence, and be a positive role model for children. No two days will ever be the same. You’ll learn on the job, gain valuable skills and discover whether a career in education is right for you.
This role really suits people who are:
• Curious about working in schools
• Looking to retrain or change career
• Ready to “give it a go” and learn as they work
• Positive, patient and calm under pressure
You may feel like you’re being thrown in at the deep end sometimes – but you’ll be supported, guided and will quickly build confidence. The skills you gain are hugely transferable: communication, teamwork, problem solving, behaviour support, empathy and resilience.
Key details:
• Pay: £13.70 per hour
• Hours: Monday to Friday, 8.30am – 3.30pm
• Contract: Flexible, covering staff absence and short-term needs to gain experience
• Roles can lead to long-term or permanent opportunities for the right people
You’ll work across different schools, so having a car or reliable transport is a real advantage as it opens more opportunities.
More than qualifications, we’re looking for the right personality and values. If you are empathetic, resilient, a strong communicator and genuinely care about helping children succeed, you could thrive in this role. Experience is helpful, but enthusiasm, reliability and a positive attitude are even more important.
If you’re ready to start something meaningful, build confidence and develop real classroom experience — apply today to be considered for this role.
