Job Title: Teaching Assistant – SEND School (Primary & Secondary) Location: Ormskirk Position Type: Full-Time, Permanent Job Description: We are seeking a proactive and dedicated Teaching Assistant to join our team at SEND school for primary and secondary students. As part of a supportive and dynamic environment, you will be working with students who have autism, providing tailored support to help them engage with their learning and develop essential life skills. Previous experience working with students with autism is essential. In this role, you will support students across a range of subjects, helping them to access the curriculum, participate in activities, and develop their communication and social skills. You will also assist with personal care and ensure that a positive, structured, and safe learning environment is maintained at all times. Key Responsibilities: Support students with autism in both academic and personal development. Assist in the implementation of individual learning plans, ensuring students’ specific needs are met. Promote positive behaviour and encourage students to participate in classroom activities. Provide assistance with communication, social skills, and independent living skills. Support teachers in managing the classroom and helping with lesson preparation. Contribute to assessments of student progress and provide feedback to the teaching team. Ensure a safe, structured, and supportive environment for all students. Ideal Candidate: Previous experience working with students with autism, ideally in a school or educational setting. A proactive approach to supporting students, with the ability to adapt to their individual needs. Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for working with young people with additional needs. Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and families. Ability to work well as part of a team and follow instructions while also taking initiative when necessary. A flexible and positive attitude towards learning and development.
