As part of their dedication to delivering the highest quality education, they are currently seeking a compassionate and dedicated Teaching Assistant to support our students with complex needs. This role offers the opportunity to make a significant impact on the lives of children with diverse learning requirements, helping them to thrive both academically and socially. The ideal candidate will work closely with experienced staff to ensure that all students receive the personalized support they need to succeed.
Key Responsibilities:
• Work closely with students with a variety of complex needs, including physical disabilities, learning disabilities, autism, and emotional or behavioural challenges.
• Provide individualised and group support during lessons to ensure students are actively engaged in learning activities.
• Assist in developing and implementing tailored learning strategies and support plans to meet the specific needs of each student.
• Support students with personal care needs, including mobility assistance, feeding, and toileting, ensuring their dignity and comfort at all times.
• Assist with the use of specialist equipment or technology to aid students’ learning and communication.
• Work alongside the class teacher to deliver adapted lesson plans, ensuring that learning activities are accessible to students with complex needs.
• Support students in small groups or on a one-to-one basis, providing guidance, encouragement, and positive reinforcement.
• Help with classroom management, ensuring that students remain focused, safe, and engaged throughout lessons and activities.
• Foster an inclusive classroom environment by promoting positive social interactions between students with complex needs and their peers.
• Support students in developing essential life skills, including communication, social interaction, and independence.
• Encourage student participation in activities and help develop their confidence in group settings.
• Help students manage any emotional or behavioural challenges, implementing strategies to de-escalate situations and support their emotional wellbeing.
Qualifications and Skills:
• Previous experience working with children with complex needs or in a similar role is highly preferred.
• Working with in a primary school
• Patience, empathy, and a passion for supporting children with complex needs.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively within a team.
• Adaptability in supporting students with a wide range of abilities and needs.
• Knowledge of specific educational resources, assistive technology, and strategies for students with complex needs is a plus.
