Job Title: Secondary Learning Support Assistant
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Secondary Learning Support Assistant to join a vibrant team at a dynamic school in Bodmin, Cornwall. As a Secondary Learning Support Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing tailored support to students, helping them to achieve their full potential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work collaboratively with the class teachers to understand the educational needs and learning objectives for individual students with various learning difficulties or disabilities.
- Offer in-class support to students, assisting them with understanding instructions, completing tasks, and staying engaged with the curriculum.
- Provide one-to-one or small group tuition outside the classroom as required, facilitating a better understanding of the subject matter.
- Implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and contribute to their review and development.
- Help with the preparation of teaching materials that cater to the specific needs of students.
- Monitor and report on the progress of students, providing regular feedback to teachers and parents/guardians.
- Accompany and support students during school trips, sports events, and other extracurricular activities.
- Assist in promoting positive behaviour in the classroom and around the school, adhering to the school’s policies and procedures.
- Ensure the health and safety of students at all times.
- Foster a supportive and motivational learning environment that encourages student independence and self-confidence.
**Qualifications/Skills:**
- Experience working with secondary-aged students, particularly those with special educational needs.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Patience, understanding, and the ability to build rapport with students.
- Good literacy, numeracy, and IT skills.
- A commitment to ongoing professional development.
- A positive, proactive approach to problem-solving.
- Ability to work flexibly and adapt to the changing needs of students.
