Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 3:30pm
Contract Type: Full-time, term-time only
We are looking for a compassionate and dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a supportive primary school in Yeovil. In this role, you will be helping a child with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs to feel secure, manage their emotions, and engage positively with their learning.
You will work closely with teachers, the SENCo, and other staff to put in place strategies that encourage confidence, independence, and emotional well-being. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who wants to make a genuine difference to a child’s school experience.
We welcome applicants with experience of supporting children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), whether through previous work or personal circumstances. If you are calm, patient, and able to build positive relationships, we would love to hear from you.
Key responsibilities:
Support a child with SEMH needs to access learning and succeed in the classroom
Help with emotional regulation and behaviour management
Work alongside staff and external professionals to deliver individualised support
Create a safe, nurturing, and inclusive environment
Requirements:
Experience with SEND, either professional or personal
Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to apply)
