Axcis education are working with a SEND school in East Devon who are seeking a full-time teaching assistant to work Monday to Friday from 9:00 – 3:30. The role is to work with a mixed complex needs class of 6 pupils who may have autism, learning difficulties and sensory impairments. This can be a challenging role so you must show resilience, patience, and a nurturing attitude to the pupils. Your responsibilities will include helping with the safety and wellbeing of all pupils, manage behaviour and support their emotional and educational needs. The children follow the national curriculum but are often below their age and some complete life skills as well as outdoor learning. Messy play and sensory skills. This is a very rewarding, fun, engaging and hands on job that requires someone with a fun personality who can be flexible and engaging. Previous experience in childcare, care, social work, support work or a parent to children with SEND needs are all great attributes that we look for. Experience in some capacity of SEND is desirable. You must also be a driver as this is in a rural area.
